What happens at my first appointment?

Your first session is a comprehensive assessment. We will take time to understand your history, current concerns, and goals. Together, we will agree on a personalised care plan. There is no pressure, you set the pace.

What is the difference between a psychiatrist and a therapist?

A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who can diagnose mental health conditions and prescribe medication. A therapist or counsellor provides talking therapy. At Mente Calma, we offer both, and can coordinate your care across both disciplines.

Do you prescribe medication?

Yes. Dr. Kunuji is a consultant psychiatrist and can prescribe psychiatric medication where clinically appropriate. Medication is always discussed thoroughly, and you are fully involved in any decisions about your treatment.
